William Jack 'Snooky' Harper, Jr., age 62, passed away Sunday, June 18, 2017 at his home after a sudden illness.
Snooky was born September 15, 1954 in Joplin to Ursalee Byrd Harper and the late William Jack Harper, Sr. and had lived in the area all of his life.
He worked at the former Atlas Powder Company, was a truck driver and worked in construction before retiring. A lover of the outdoors, Snooky collected arrowheads; loved horses; enjoyed hunting and fished whenever he got the chance. Snooky was a Christian and will be missed by all who knew him.
He married Dorothy R. 'Dobie' Whinnery on August 13, 1976 in Joplin. She survives at the home.
Additional survivors include siblings, Debbie Collins, Webb City, Jeff Harper, Joplin, Scott Harper and wife, Michelle, Joplin, Kenneth Harper and wife, Bobby, Joplin, Gina Kellog, Melissa Newman, Webb City; and his mother, Ursalee Harper, Joplin.
In addition to his father, Snooky was preceded in death by a son, Justin Hal Harper.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
