Henry Yust

Mr. William Henry Yust, age 91, of Joplin, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2017, at Spring River Christian Village in Joplin.

Henry was born on December 5, 1925, in Seneca, Missouri, to the union of the late John G. Yust and Goldie I. (Wheeler) Yust. He was raised on a farm in the Seneca area and he was a graduate of Seneca High School. After high school, Henry served his country faithfully in the Army during WWII and he was stationed in Germany, France and England. After returning home, he began working for B. F. Goodrich as a rubber worker and he retired after 39 years of dedicated service. On May 8, 1948, in Neosho, Missouri, Henry was united in marriage to Lorene G. Howerton and together they shared 69 wonderful years of marriage.

Henry was a man of many talents, but one talent that was most evident was his woodworking skills. He was able to build anything and everything—from simple to ornate. Henry was a member of the Generations Free Will Baptist Church of Joplin and he displayed his love for God through the woodworking pieces he created for his church. He also held a special talent in gardening and his homegrown tomatoes, cucumbers and squash will be missed. Above all of his talents, family was Henry’s purpose in life. Henry built a love of travel for his family and vacations were taken every summer all over the United States. He always made sure his family wanted for nothing and he will be remembered for his unconditional love and support through the years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Billy; and three siblings, Clifford and Freddie Yust and Helen Marie Pruitt.

Survivors include his loving wife, Lorene Yust; two daughters, Linda Moneymaker and husband, John, of Springfield, Missouri, and Sandra Roark and husband, Duane, of Louisburg, Kansas; four grandchildren, Ryan Moneymaker and wife, Lenessa, of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Tarah Allmon and husband, Jason, of La Quinta, California, DeeLayne Roark of Louisville, Kentucky, and Jarrod Roark and wife, Jessica, of Kansas City, Kansas; 11 great-grandchildren; as well as a host of extended family and friends.

A graveside service with full military honors will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 5, 2017, at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery in Joplin with Pastor Jerald Bass officiating. The family will receive friends from 12 – 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary, Joplin. Those honoring Henry’s life by serving as pallbearers are Ryan Moneymaker, Reagan Moneymaker, Curtis Moneymaker, David Moneymaker, Jarrod Roark and Brogan Roark.
