David Dally

David Clyde Dally, 74, of Carthage, Missouri, passed away on August 8, 2022. David was born March 15, 1948, in Ishpeming, Michigan, the son of Clyde and Carol Ninnis Dally. He was a 1966 graduate of Carthage High School and received from MU a bachelor’s degree in 1970 and a law degree in 1973. 

David married Laura Gaye Ramm on August 16, 1969, in Carthage, Missouri. They were married just short of 53 years. She survives.

He was a member of Grace Episcopal Church and former Elder of First Presbyterian Church, both of Carthage.








David was known for his dedication and love of his faith, family, and friends and for his great sense of humor. He was a lifelong Mizzou supporter and fan, enjoyed spending time at his lake home with family and friends, traveling with family and friends to many countries and islands, and spending time with his Carthage Deli morning coffee group and Tuesday Beer Thirty friends.

Retiring as Presiding Judge of Jasper County, Missouri, after 18 years, he also served as Jasper County Prosecutor for 12 years and 11 years as assistant prosecutor, and Carthage city attorney for 24 years. He also practiced law with Crandall, Crawford, Dally, and Podleski and was an adjunct professor and instructor at the police academy at MSSU.

During his career he was instrumental in establishing the Victim’s Advocacy Program, the Jasper County Drug Court, and the Jasper County Drug Task Force. He served as president of the Missouri Prosecutor’s Association, the Missouri Municipal Attorney’s Association, and the Jasper County Bar Association. He was also appointed to special cases to sit with the Missouri Supreme Court and the recipient of the Missouri Prosecutor’s Association Distinguished Service Award.

Among his community activities were President of the Carthage Rotary Club where he was a Paul Harris Fellow and president of the Broadview Investment Club. He served on the following boards: Carthage Chamber of Commerce, Carthage Salvation Army, Ozarks Rivers Heritage Foundation, and Carthage Area Sheltered Workshop.








Surviving in addition to his wife are daughter, Heather Dally Kassing (Chris); son, Nathaniel Dally (Maree); grandchildren, Sarah Kassing Yates (Steve), Abigail Kassing, Stephen Kassing (Karen), Andrew Kassing, Aben Kassing, Anna Kassing, Julia Kassing, Jack Dally, Hudson Dally; great-grandson Xavier Yates; sister Gail Wood (Lauren). He is preceded in death by great-granddaughter Zariah Yates.

Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, August 13, 2022, at Grace Episcopal Church, Carthage, Missouri. Inurnment will take place at the Grace Church Columbarium. The family will receive friends following. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts are suggested to be made to Grace Episcopal Church in care of Knell Mortuary.
