(From Parker Mortuary)Lillie Garcia “Rosa” Metcalf, age 68, Joplin, passed away on Thursday, August 4, 2022 at Mercy of Joplin.
Rosa was born May 9, 1954 in Harlingen, Texas, daughter of the late Roberto Lieck Garcia and Santos Villarreal Garcia. She worked for years as an over the road truck driver with her husband, and then on her own. Most recently she worked in the kitchen for Mercy of Joplin.
She loved her Lord, and was strengthened in the fact that He helped her through tough times, and when she couldn’t stand on her own, he held her up. She knew she was never alone during the tough times because the Lord was always with her. She will be greatly missed by many for her smile, and her faith in Jesus.
In addition to her parents, Rosa was preceded in death by brothers, Bobbie Garcia, Jimmy Garcia a Vietnam Vet, Lora Metcalf and Gary Metcalf.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry Metcalf, Melanie Metcalf and husband Larry; sisters, Janie Garcia, Norma Garcia, and Ninfa Garcia; brother, Alfonso Garcia and wife Angie; several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews and several cousins.
Graveside service will be Monday, August 8, 2022 at 2:30 p.m. in Mount Hope Cemetery with Pastor John Veazy officiating.
The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary on Monday from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the graveside.
