(From Parker Mortuary)Cathy Sue Holt, age 67, of Joplin, passed away on Saturday, December 10, 2022, at Freeman West, following a sudden illness.
Cathy was born on January 13, 1955, in Joplin, the daughter of the late Joseph C. Christy and Billie K. (Hayes) Christy.
She married Stephen H. Holt on August 22, 1976, in Joplin. Together they were blessed with two children. They made their home in Joplin from 1976 to present.
Cathy graduated from Clinton High School in Clinton, MO in 1973. She graduated from MSSU in 1977 with a degree in Music Education Vocal/Instrumental grades K-12. She taught thirty-two years in various local school districts and retired in 2010 from the Joplin School District, after serving eleven years.

After retirement, she spent many years as a judge for local, district and state music contests. She was a certified judge by the MENC. She was employed as a private music teacher at Palen Music Company in Joplin.
She is survived by her husband of forty-six years, Stephen H. Holt, Joplin; one son Christopher S. Holt and wife Kristin, Joplin; one daughter, Lindsey A. Hartley and husband Zack, Webb City, MO; a brother, Scott Christy and wife Linda, Clinton, MO; six grandchildren, Asa, Tessa, Nina, Maguire, Madison, and Trenton; a nephew Clint and wife Nicole; and niece Julie and husband Jim; and her fur babies, Millie Jane and Lillie Mae.
She is survived by her husband of forty-six years, Stephen H. Holt, Joplin; one son Christopher S. Holt and wife Kristin, Joplin; one daughter, Lindsey A. Hartley and husband Zack, Webb City, MO; a brother, Scott Christy and wife Linda, Clinton, MO; six grandchildren, Asa, Tessa, Nina, Maguire, Madison, and Trenton; a nephew Clint and wife Nicole; and niece Julie and husband Jim; and her fur babies, Millie Jane and Lillie Mae.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Pyper.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Park Plaza Christian Church, 3220 Indiana Ave. Joplin. Mark Scott and B.A. Austin, Ministers, will officiate. The visitation will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday at the Church, prior to the service. Graveside committal will immediately follow the service at Mount Hope Cemetery, Webb City, MO.
Memorial contributions may be given to Faithful Friends Animal Advocates in care of the mortuary.
