(From Parker Mortuary)Harold Lee “Hal” Hoofnagle, age 65, Joplin, passed away on Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at his home after long and a courageous battle with a brain tumor.
Hal was born February 5, 1958 in Carthage, MO, son of the late Harold C. Hoofnagle and Phyllis Jean (Willard) Hoofnagle of Joplin. He grew up in Joplin and graduated from Parkwood High School in 1976 before attending Missouri Southern State University in Joplin.
He worked for Atlas Powder for several years before beginning his career with Spire Energy Company which he enjoyed for over 30 years before retiring as a supervisor. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and enjoyed spending time at home working on projects and loving his family. He will be greatly missed by many.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Shelly (Irvin) Hoofnagle; son, Adam Hoofnagle; daughter, Staci Watson (Josh); mother, Phyllis Hoofnagle; grandchildren, Zander Flinn, Jacob Watson, Rhealee Watson, Carter Watson, Maverick Watson, Kadin Hoofnagle, twins Clair and Charlie Hoofnagle, and one great-grandson; and his numerous friends and co-workers including a close friend, Jim Riley.
Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. in Parker Mortuary Chapel with family and friends officiating.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
I am so sad for you all....Hal was a good man. I tried to work it out to be back tonight and there was just no way. You are in my thoughts and prayers....love you!!
