(From Parker Mortuary)Kelly Neil Olds, age 64, of Carl Junction, saddled up for his final ride on November 9, 2023, in Carl Junction, MO with his loved ones by his side.
Kelly, a man of many hats (and boots) was a family man, cowboy, and entrepreneur. He was known for his intelligence, friendly nature, and adventurous spirit.
Born on April 6, 1959, to the late Gary and Alice “Lavon” (Talley) Olds, in Joplin. His early days were spent at St. Mary's Catholic School, then graduating from Joplin Memorial High School in 1977. On August 4, 1983, he married the love of his life, Cathy Henson Green, in Miami, OK.
In his younger years, Kelly could be found on the ranch, breaking and training American Quarter Horses. During this time, Kelly entered several bareback bronc riding events, winning numerous buckles and awards. His passion for horses was only rivaled by his love for the great outdoors, hunting, fishing, and even cutting wood. Later in life, he became the Owner and Operator of O.K. Exteriors/Windows & More for over 40 years until his retirement.
His children and grandchildren were the apple of his eye, and he loved them fiercely. He was an excellent husband, father, and provider, always putting his family first. Kelly was the type of man who never missed an opportunity to tell his loved ones how much they meant to him. He loved hard, not only did he have a special relationship with his grandchildren, but also with his nieces and nephews.
Kelly's legacy is one of family, love, and adventure. He was a friend to all, a stranger to none. He enjoyed a cold beer with a good friend, or without. His immeasurable impact on everyone he met is a testament to the incredible man he was. Though he's gone, his spirit lives on in the love he shared, and the memories he created. So, here's to the cowboy, Kelly Neil Olds - a man who lived life with joy and a whole lot of love in his heart. Happy trails, cowboy.
