Marjorie Chronister

Marjorie Jane Jenkins Chronister, aged 93, passed away on November 2, 2023. She was born to George and Pearl Bartley on June 4, 1930, in Kirksville, Missouri. 

Marjorie graduated from Couch High School and then pursued her degree in Home Economics from the University of Missouri, graduating in 1952. She went on to share her passion for the subject by teaching Home Economics at Neosho High School until her retirement in 1976. 








An active member of the First Baptist Church in Neosho, she also was a member of the Newcomers Club, and the widow to widow group. Marjorie enriched her life and community with her involvement. She found joy in various activities, including playing cards, swimming, sewing, especially quilting, gardening, and cooking delectable treats to share with loved ones. Marjorie was united in marriage to Dow Jenkins on June 5, 1952, in Columbia, MO. Together, they nurtured a loving family and had four children. 

After Dow’s passing in 1996, Marjorie later married Bill Chronister, who passed away in 2019. 

She is survived by her children, Lynn Jenkins and wife Brenda of Neosho, MO, Linda Willard and husband Jon of Gainesville, TX, Lou Boman and husband Derald of Commerce, OK, and Frankie McKlintic of Nevada, MO. Marjorie's legacy lives on through her 12 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers, Robert Bartley of Lindsay, OK, and Donald Bartley of Linn, MO. Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, George and Pearl Bartley, her husbands, Dow Jenkins and Bill Chronister, as well as three brothers, Ron, Dave, and Bill Bartley.








Family will be receiving friends at the visitation on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, from 10:00-11:00 AM at First Baptist Church in Neosho, MO. A funeral service to celebrate her life will follow at 11:00 AM, and a graveside service will be held immediately after at Neosho Memorial Park Cemetery.

Marjorie will be fondly remembered for her dedication to family, her love for her community, and her nurturing spirit.
