(From Clark Funeral Home)Ralph Clair Clifford, aged 93, peacefully passed away on October 31, 2023. He was born to William Clifford and Elva Summers Clifford on October 4, 1930, in Mullinville, Kansas. Ralph graduated from Plains High School in Kansas and went on to become a self-employed businessman.
In 1978, Ralph relocated to Stella, Missouri, where he purchased a farm and raised cattle. He ventured into various business endeavors, serving as a salesman for a cookie company, and later taking ownership of Indian Creek Grocery in Stella Missouri. He then purchased Wheaton Foods grocery store, where he dedicated 20 years of service until his retirement in 2015.
He found solace and joy in fishing and spending time at the lake, embracing the tranquility of the outdoors. Ralph was united in marriage to Betty Schaffer on October 20, 1949, in Kansas, and she survives.
He is also survived by his six children: Kathy Sonju and husband Greg of Colorado, Chuck Clifford and wife Lisa of Colorado, Jim Clifford and wife Amber of Colorado, John Clifford of Missouri, Pattie Bigham and husband Chris of Missouri, and Chris Hoyal and husband Jeff of Colorado. Ralph leaves a legacy through his eighteen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He is additionally survived by his brother, Elden Clifford of Nevada.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Gene Clifford, eight sisters, and four brothers. Private family services will be held at a later date to honor and celebrate the life of Ralph Clair Clifford.
Ralph will be remembered for his entrepreneurial spirit, love for family, and appreciation of nature. His legacy and fond memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
