Curtis Campbell

(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)

Curtis Gene Campbell, 75, Joplin, MO, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, December 2, 2023, after a long illness.

Curtis was born on September 11th, 1948, the son of Wilbur and Billie Marie Campbell.

He was a graduate of Joplin High School, class of 1966. He received his bachelor’s degree in business marketing from Missouri Southern State College in 1971. He enlisted and served in the MO National Guard from 1968 to 1973.

Most of his professional career was spent working in sales and finance, working primarily in the auto industry and residential mortgage lending. He was baptized at Villa Heights Christian Church in September of 1967. He attended and served there for the rest of his life. He taught Sunday School classes, hosted numerous homegroups and spent many years as a deacon and elder. He loved sports, especially baseball. He loved playing, coaching, watching, and telling stories of all the homeruns he’d hit. But, more than anything, he loved his family, and he dedicated his entire life to them, spending countless hours watching his grandkids’ various activities.

Survivors include his high school sweetheart and wife of 56 years, Linda, whom he loved with all his heart and showed it every day of his life. One daughter, Holly Wampler Perrin and husband Josh; two sons, Brandon Campbell and wife Lissa; and David Campbell and wife Brooke; all of Joplin. Additional survivors include his 11 grandchildren, Maggie Wampler, Keaton Campbell, Fielding Campbell, Carson Wampler, Hobbs Campbell, Daelynd Campbell, Dawsynn Campbell, Lyla Pearl Wampler, Aydan Perrin, Ava Perrin, and Lilah Kate Granger-Moss. One sister, Deann Bennett, Oronogo; one brother, Gary Campbell, Oronogo.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his son-in-law, Chad Wampler.

A visitation for family and friends will be held at 10 am on Saturday, December 9th, at Vila Heights Christian Church in Joplin and followed by a celebration of his life at 11 am.

Contributions may be made in his memory to Golden Paw Pet Rescue.
