Elsie Brown

Elsie Deloris Brown, age 76 of Galena, passed away at Mercy Hospital at 1:16 PM on Saturday, December 23, 2023.

Elsie was born on February 17, 1947 in Granby, MO to the union of Rev. Orville Edward Johnston and Ina "Fern" (Wolgamott) Johnston. She had been a lifetime resident of the Galena area.

Ms. Brown thoroughly enjoyed her time outdoors, specifically fishing on her river lot. In her youth, she enjoyed working with ceramics and bowling. She attended Trinity Worship Center in Baxter Springs, KS.

She was united in marriage with Jimmy Ray Foster on February 17, 1964. He preceded her in death. She later married Jimmy Brown on June 2, 2007. He also preceded her in death

In addition, she was preceded in death by her parents, Orville and Fern Johnston; and one sister, Connie Courtney; and one great-grandson, Braylen Anderson.

Survivors include one son, Jack Foster (wife, Lisa) of Galena, KS; three grandchildren, Travis Foster of Galena, Jessica Anderson (husband, Wes) of Galena, and Heather Baker (husband, Brian) of Galena; eight great-grandchildren, Alexis, Kylie, Natalie, Raileigh, Taaron, Dakota, Emma, and Ben; as well as two sisters and one brother.

Ms. Brown has been entrusted to Derfelt Funeral Home of Galena for cremation. The family will host a celebration of life at Oak Hill Cemetery of Galena at a later date. Online condolences may be expressed at www.derfeltfuneralhomes.com.
