(From Parker Mortuary)Zola Dee Brill, age 88 of Carterville, Missouri, passed peacefully at Mercy Hospital in Carthage on Friday, December 15, 2023. Zola was born January 5, 1935 in Springfield, Missouri to the late Albert and Cora (Jones) Bennett.
Zola worked as a waitress and in the grocery business for several years but her most accomplished job was being a Homemaker where she proudly took care of her family’s needs. She was of the Pentecostal faith, having attended a few different churches throughout the Joplin and Springfield area.
Zola married first Oscar Brill, however they eventually divorced but reunited and married again after her second husband of several years, Donald Wendlandt passed away.
She is survived by her husband, Oscar Brill of the home in Carterville; daughters, Debra Leffler of Dallas, Oregon and Donna Johnson (Phillip) of Greeley, Colorado; son, Gary Brill (Toni) of the state of Kentucky; step-daughters, Melissa Brill of Carterville and Vicki Cunningham of Joplin; sister, Della Nickle of Walnut Grove, Missouri; brother, Larry Bennett of Wichita, Kansas; 5 grandchildren, numerous great and great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
Other than her parents, Zola is preceded in death by her husband, Donald, six sisters and two brothers.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Springfield. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary in Joplin, Missouri.
