(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)Donald Richard Johnson, age 85 of Joplin, MO., passed away on Friday, December 29, 2023 in Joplin, MO at Freeman West Hospital.
Donald (Don) was born on February 22, 1938, in Grover, TX to Earl and Ethel (Thompson) Johnson.
Don and his wife of 61 years, Norma (Fowler), were long-time residents in the Spring City area of Missouri. Don worked as an office equipment technician for Monroe for many years before retiring at the age of 50. This allowed him time to work on his beloved farm.
Don loved living in a rural setting and working around his acreage. At different times he had horses and cows to take care of. He enjoyed owning and maintaining John Deere tractors, and taking part in Plow Days. Don was known for his ability to fix just about anything… cars, tractors, lawn mowers, etc, and always enjoyed helping anyone in need.
He was a member of Prosperity Apostolic Faith Church, Joplin.
Don was a kind, patient, Christian man. He loved the Lord and his church, and family and friends. He was a wonderful husband and father.
Norma preceded him in death, passing in 2018. Don missed her very much, as he will also be missed, but now they are reunited and rejoicing together in the presence of Jesus.
