(From Ozark Funeral Home)Jon Royce Jones, 79, of Sun Lakes, AZ, passed away on December 20, 2023. He was born on March 31, 1944, in Monument, KS to Haskell and Dorothy Jones. He was raised in Monument, KS and graduated in 1962. Jon honorably served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1967-1968, where he demonstrated remarkable bravery, earning two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star.
Jon was a dedicated scholar, earning a Bachelor's of Science in Education from Pittsburg State University, a Master's Degree in Education from Drury University, and a Specialist Degree in Education from the University of Arkansas.
Throughout his professional journey, Jon excelled in various fields. He possessed exceptional craftsmanship as a carpenter, and his entrepreneurial spirit led him to succeed in business. However, his true passion lay in education. Jon's unwavering commitment to nurturing young minds led him to teach Biology in Pierce City, MO. He served as the Assistant Principal at the Cassville High School. Jon worked as the Assistant Principal, then Principal for the McDonald County High School in Anderson, MO. He later assumed the role of Assistant Superintendent of the McDonald County School District.
Jon embodied a generous spirit. He was known for his many acts of kindness towards others. He had a big heart and used his talents to help others in their times of need. During Jon's life, he gained enjoyment from hard work, building and renovating houses and restoring classic cars. He appreciated being out on the water, boating and fishing with family and friends.
Jon leaves behind a legacy of love and strength. He is survived by his beloved family, daughter Monica (Chris) Andrews and granddaughter Andie; daughter Stephanie (Scott) Stevick and his grandsons Keilyn (Natalie), great-granddaughter Scarlett, and Daegan Stevick, his son, Matt (Samantha) Jones and grandson Ian and granddaughter Lilah. He is survived by his sister, Janice Barnett. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rochelle Jones, as well as his brother James Jones, brother Max Jones, and his parents Dorothy and Haskell Jones.
In memory of Jon's remarkable life, contributions can be made to either the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or the Wounded Warrior Project, organizations that held special meaning to him.
The funeral arrangements are entrusted to the compassionate professionals at Ozark Funeral Home in Anderson, Missouri.
