Joy Parks

Ila “Joy” Parks, age 84, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Friday, December 15, 2023.

Joy was born on January 6th, 1939 in Flippin, AR. One of 9 children, born to William “Herbert” and Bitha (Galloway) Mcbee. Joy met and married Bobby Burdett in Springfield, with whom she had 5 children. She then married Daniel Parks and lived in the Jefferson City area until his passing in 1987. 

Joy retired from Kmart where she worked for many years in both Jefferson City and Springfield. Joy lived over 30 years in the Springfield area. In retirement you could find Joy in her yard enjoying her garden or spending time with family. Joy was a dedicated mother, grandmother, and Gigi, who never missed a moment to tell her family she loved them, no matter the distance that life often put between her and those she loved. Her last few years were spent in the Joplin area with her daughter Sharron’s family.

In addition to her parents and husband Dan, Joy was preceded in death by her son, Aaron Burdett; one granddaughter, April Cornell; and five siblings, Bill McBee, Agert McBee, Willie Richter, Connie Maddox, and Maxine Curran.

Joy is survived by her children, Lisa and husband Don Scott, Sharron and husband Greg Totten, Char and husband Mike Cameron, Terry and wife Ann Burdett; grandchildren, Christen, Tyler, Allen, Jonathan, Daniel Adam, Kendra, Charece, Erich, Daniel, Michael, Kristina, Amanda, Matthew, Madison, Skye, Sherity, Breanna, & Mikayla; as well as multiple great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She is also survived by three siblings Marlene Climer, Tommy Sue Luttjohann, and Carl Wayne McBee.

 

Memorial Services will be held on Friday, December 22, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel in Joplin, MO. She will be laid to rest at The National Cemetery in Springfield, MO with her late husband Dan.

Funeral arrangements are under the care of Parker Mortuary.
