Robert Epperson

Robert A. Epperson was born on March 24, 1929, at the home of his grandparents, in Frontenac, Kansas to Forrest R. and Eva (Alexander) Epperson. 

Robert attended Lincoln Elementary School and seventh grade at Roosevelt Jr. High School. In 1942, the family moved to Neosho, Missouri, Forrest Epperson was transferred by the K.C. S. to supervise the maintenance of steam engines in and out of Ft. Crowder. 






He graduated Neosho High School in 1947, then went to work for Lampo Auto Machine Shop. In March, 1949, Robert began his apprenticeship at the K.C.S. shops in Pittsburg, Kansas. On March 26, 1950, he married Barbara L. Branham at the First Baptist Church in Rogers, Arkansas. 

After completing his apprenticeship, the family moved to Kansas City for two years, working for the Union Pacific Railroad and Fairbanks and Morris and building houses. They returned to Neosho in 1957 and built a new home on North Street. Robert went to work for Rocketdyne in 1957, where he worked until 1968, when the plant closed. Upon closing, he transferred to Rockwell International in Tulsa, Oklahoma and the family joined him there in June, 1968. 

In 1972, after layoffs, he started a cabinet shop, closing it in 1985 and worked for Deltex, until he and son, Jim started Afterhours Marine’ in 1985 in Coweta, Oklahoma. They sold the business in 1999 and he continued to operate a machine shop from his home in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. 

Robert was a member of the First Baptist Church in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. He was a talented musician and collected and played the violin. On May 15, 2023, his wife, Barbara preceded him in death after sharing seventy-three years together. 








Bob is survived by two children, Jim Epperson and wife, Abbie of Sand Springs, Oklahoma and Bobbie Clymer and husband, Richard of Stella, Missouri; grandchildren, Anthony and Stephanie, Nathan and Denna, Levi and Rebecca, Amanda and Matthew and Alaina and Zach; great grandchildren, Elijah and Emma, Lilly, Chris, Hannah, Fredo, Presley, Michael, Thomas, Andrew, Micah, Caleb, Levi, Cameron, Tyler and Gunner; one brother, Arthur Epperson of California and two sisters, Jeanine Coles of Joplin, Missouri and Eva Ruth Carney of Mississippi.
