(From Parker Mortuary)Ruth Evelyn Young Daniels, age 89, of Seneca, passed away on Sunday, December 10, 2023 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin surrounded by her family.
Ruth was born August 6, 1934 in Joplin, MO to the late union of Ira and Ruth (Benson) Stewart. She was a lifetime resident of Seneca. She married Bobbie F. Young on July 8, 1950 in Bentonville, AR. Together they were blessed with 58 years before his passing in 2008.
Bobbie and Ruth had six children, Jimmy, Bobby, Daniel, Kathy, Carolyn, and Kim. After Bobbie’s passing, she remarried on December 5, 2009 to Walter J. Daniels in Neosho, MO and gained a host of beloved family. Walter and Ruth only had a few short years together before his passing in 2012. She worked in food service for over 30 years from managing a one-person kitchen in the 60’s to being a food service manager for Joplin R-8 Schools retiring in 1997. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting, reading, baking, going to church, and playing games with her many friends and family. She was a member of the Hornet Christian Church. Ruth was famous for her homemade cinnamon rolls that she would often bake and share with family and friends. She was a kind and gentle soul that enjoyed helping others whenever she had the chance.
In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her son, Jimmy; and granddaughter, Khristina.
Ruth is survived by five of her children, Bobby Young and wife, Jackie, Kathy Phipps and husband, Rick, Carolyn Turner and husband, Steve, Daniel Young and wife, Shelby, Kim Briley and husband, Jim; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made out to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 14, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Hornet Christian Church with Pastor Butch Ward officiating. Interment to follow at Hornet Cemetery with Travis Young, Scott Phipps, Ryan Phipps, Mike Holden, Carter Young, and Calen Goad serving as pallbearers.
Funeral arrangements are under the special care and direction of Parker Mortuary.
