(From Buchanan Funeral Home)Randall Dean Branum, known to friends and family as Randy, passed away on December 12, 2023.
Randy was born on January 23, 1957 to Bill and Bernice Branum. He grew up in Monett and was a proud Cub, excelling in football, track and golf. Randy met his future wife, Vikki Nine, during their time at Monett High School. She was immediately drawn to his kind heart and playful sense of humor. They started dating when they were 16 and married in the summer of 1977.
After attending college at Missouri Southern State College and Southwest Missouri State University, Randy began a career in banking. He worked at UMB Bank for over 40 years, taking joy in meeting and helping members of the Monett community.
Randy and Vikki had three children - Bekka, Jamin and Susana. Randy was a devoted dad and loved spending time with his children. Whether he was do-si-do-ing at the annual school square dance, cheering them on during sporting events or running out to the local pond over his lunch break to teach the art of fishing, Randy was always happily involved.
He was an avid fisherman and looked forward to opening day of trout season at Roaring River. Randy took after his dad and was an exceptional gardener, composting before it was trendy and taking pride in the rare plants he cultivated. His tomato plants were epic and his ferns looked straight out of Ireland.
Randy lived a life of service. When he saw a need, he jumped into action. He taught a Sunday school class for people with developmental disabilities, which touched many lives. He was an Elder and Chairman of the Board at Countryside Christian Church and served on the Board at Crosslines and the Lawrence County Board of Developmental Disabilities.
Always a jokester, Randy looked for ways to bring smiles to others’ faces. He will be missed dearly by his wife, Vikki, his children, Bekka Matthews (Jackson), Jamin Branum, Susana Branum Smith (Todd); his grandchildren, Grayson, Camden, Madalynn, Paxton and Kathryn; his sister, Debbie Creed (Ronald); his brother, Ronnie Branum; his brothers-in-law, Patrick Nine (Tammy), Craig Nine (Linda) and Chester Nine (Amy); his sister-in-law, Karen Nine and many nieces and nephews.
Randy is now rejoicing in heaven with his father and mother, Bill and Bernice; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lonnie and Willa Dean Nine; and his brother-in-law, Michael Nine.
All are welcome to celebrate the life of Randy on December 18, 2023 at Countryside Christian Church, Monett. The visitation will be from 12 - 1 PM. The service will begin at 1 PM. Interment will follow at I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Monett. Arrangements have been entrusted to Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett, MO.
