Wayne Hiestand

Wayne Hiestand, 89, Nevada, MO passed away on December 12, 2023 at Moore-Few Care Center in Nevada. Wayne was born January 26, 1934 in Milo, MO to Clifford E. and Opal Allene (Folkner) Hiestand. He married Jessie “Dorene” Barger on April 29, 1955 in El Dorado Springs, MO and she preceded him in death on July 29, 2018.

Wayne grew up in Bristow (Vernon County) and graduated from Walker High School in 1952. He served in the Medical Detachment of the 135th Tank Battalion of the Missouri National Guard where he served for eight years. 








Wayne worked for the Missouri Pacific Railroad for several years and later NAPA Auto Parts in Nevada for a number of years. In the 1970’s he went to work for the FRAM Corporation in Nevada where he was an electrician until his retirement. While at FRAM he worked on the very first computers. Wayne enjoyed rebuilding old cars and trucks, working on Ford tractors and winning the Bushwhacker Parade with them three years in a row.

Survivors include his daughter, Tina Hiestand, El Dorado Springs; four grandchildren, Tristan Hiestand (Leah), Topeka, KS, Bryce Ledbetter (Mikayla), Willard, MO, Dallas Bugg (Brittani), Webb City, MO, Sarina Eaton (Zesar Huerta), Ft. Scott, KS; great-grandchildren, Mileena, Roland, Atlas, Kinlee, Logan, Rhett, Ruger, Keegan, Braelyn, and Maysa; one brother, Myron Hiestand (Wanda), Walker; and one niece, Rhonda Williams, El Dorado Springs.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 14, 2023 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with Pastor Terry Mosher officiating. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park in Nevada. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home.
