Verna Wimer

Elverna Ann Wimer, age 87, passed away on December 27, 2023, in Rogers, Arkansas. Born on March 12, 1936, in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, she was the beloved daughter of the late David Morgan and Gwyneth Jones.

Verna's journey through life was marked by love, resilience, and a zest for adventure. She was a devoted wife to her late husband, Raymond Wimer, and a loving mother to her daughter, Janice Shanahan, and her late daughter, Bronwen. Verna's family was the center of her world, and her cherished bond with her grandson, Chase Shanahan, brought immeasurable joy to her life.

Verna had many passions, and behind each one was a genuine love for connecting with others. Whether playing golf or dominoes with the ladies, or baking for her friends and family, she couldn’t help but leave a lasting impression on everyone around her. 

She was also an avid traveler and had curiosity for the world around her. She cherished every memory of her journeys, from roadside meals she had on weekend trips with friends, to the winning scratch-off her grandson bought on one of their many drives to Canada. Verna had a true excitement for life and the people she met along the way.

Verna was preceded in death by her daughter, Bronwen; her husband Ray; and her brothers, Phillip and Dilwyn, and their wives, Barbara and Trudy. 

She is survived by her daughter Janice and husband Tim of Joplin, Missouri; her grandson, Chase; her nephew and nieces Gary, Lesley, Diane, and Patsy; and a host of extended family and friends.

A visitation to celebrate Verna's life will be held on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, from 4-6 PM at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home of Rogers. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Helping Hands in Elverna's memory.
