(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)Phyllis Charlene Brown passed away peacefully Wednesday, December 20th, of 2023 surrounded by her family. She was born to Charles (Bud) and Fern Sweet of Galena, KS on May 3rd, 1938. They preceded her in death. She was the oldest of five children, Charlie and wife Betty Sweet of Galena, Judy and husband Chuck Stapleton of Galena, Mary and husband Bob Gilbert of Galena, Kenny Sweet of Galena.
She attended Galena high school and graduated in 1956 as the Valedictorian of her class. She was a Majorette with the Galena band. She married Ernie Brown of Greenwood, MO on August 11th, 1956. They were together 60 years. He preceded her in death on September 16th, 2016.
They had three children, Cindy Brown of Joplin, MO, Steve and wife Pam Brown of Daphne, AL, Doug Brown of Asbury, MO. Seven grandchildren, Kristal Slaughter of Joplin, MO, Karli and husband Blake Engelage of Joplin, MO, Kyler and Krystal Baker of Webb City, MO, Chastin and wife Candice of Webb City, MO, Chelsey and husband Jonathan Stevenson of Colorado, Zachary and wife Lydia Brown of Daphne, AL, Spencer and fiancé Elizabeth of Georgia. Thirteen great grandchildren, Radley, Princetyn, Lillian, Blakely, Shea, Calyn, Addi, Chasney, Piper, Cooper, Olivia, Charlotte, and Lanie. Three great great grandchildren, Zayden, Wesson, Laney, and lots of nieces and nephews and great and great great.
She was a homemaker and loved her family more than anything. She will be missed dearly. Her wishes were to be cremated and there be no services, so we are honoring her wishes.
