(From Simpson Funeral Home)We gather today to celebrate and remember the life of Leroy Vande Vrede, a loving and compassionate man, who was born on May 24, 1939, in Baldwin, Wisconsin.
Leroy dedicated his life to the service of others, both through his work and in his personal life. He was a man of great integrity and humility, always putting the needs of others before his own. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and his love for his family was evident in everything he did.
In 2016, Leroy married Susan Edwards, the love of his life. They spent their days in Joplin by each others side. He was a dedicated factory worker, and after many years of hard work, he retired around 2017 from Murphy Manor. In his retirement, Leroy found joy in the simple things in life. He loved to watch television and spend quality time with his wife. Leroy was a man who cherished every moment he spent with his loved ones. His compassion and love for his family truly defined him.
Leroy is survived by his wife, Susan Edwards; his daughters, Tyan Vande Vrede and Brenda; his sons Mark, Jim and Scott, siblings Janet, Darlene, Joy and Gary, along with a host of grandchildren and other members of the family. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Eunice Vrede, and his first wife, Stella Vande Vrede.
