(From Clark Funeral Home)Helen Irene Black, aged 80, passed away on December 2, 2023. She graced this world on April 27, 1943, born to Floyd and Ella Lumpkins in Joplin, MO. She left behind a legacy woven with love and cherished memories.
She graduated from Joplin High School and then went on to earn her bachelor's degree from PSU, a testament to her commitment and dedication to learning. She worked as an office manager at American Family Insurance until her retirement in 2006.
On January 18, 1964, in Duenweg, MO, she exchanged vows and hearts with the love of her life, Rex Black. Together, they shared a profound and enduring love, celebrating 59 years of joyous companionship. He remains a beacon of her life and love, surviving her. Her life was one of shared joy and cherished moments with her treasured family.
She is fondly remembered by her children Scott Black of Dallas, TX, and Jayna Long and husband Tom of Murfreesboro, TN. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren: Ashley Mendoza, Chelsey Ramero, Dakota Nelson, Miles Black, Wyatt Black, and Reece Long, and four great-grandchildren. In the embrace of her memories, she leaves behind her sister Judy Wilson, and husband Daryl of Purcell, MO.
She is preceded in death by her daughter Trisha Nelson and her parents. Helen's spirit of love and cherished moments will continue to resonate within the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
