Vernon Hatfield

Vernon Ray Hatfield, aged 87, passed away on December 3, 2023. He was born on September 5, 1936, in Mountain View, Missouri, to Roy and Meredith Hatfield. 

His journey through life was marked by dedication, hard work, and a passion for the great outdoors. He graduated from Mountain View High School. Vernon ventured to the Neosho area in 1972. 








He dedicated his professional life as a district manager at Holsum Bread, leaving a mark through his work ethic and commitment. Beyond the professional realm, Vernon found immense joy in the serene embrace of nature. Hunting and fishing were not mere hobbies but reflections of his deep connection with the outdoors. His dedication to serving as a Mounted Guard for the Sheriff's Dept exemplified his commitment to his community and his love for horses.

On February 18, 1972, Vernon Ray Hatfield married Clione Cotton in West Plains, Missouri. Their union was a testament to enduring love, and she remains a beacon of light in his memory, surviving him. Vernon's legacy is carried by his loving children: Jan Freeman of Neosho, Craig Sherertz and wife Lisa of Springfield, MO, Marsetta Holley and husband Chris of Indiana, Jamie Hatfield of Neosho, and Kristen Senter and husband Ed of Neosho. Numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren also cherish the memory of their beloved patriarch. While he leaves a profound void, Vernon is preceded in death by his son Jeff Hatfield, and his parents. His memory will be cherished by all who were fortunate enough to share in his life's journey.








In tribute to Vernon's life, friends and family are invited to pay their respects from 5:30 to 7:00 PM on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at Clark Funeral Home in Neosho, MO. Contributions honoring Vernon's memory can be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
