Doris Laverna (Davis) Wolfe was born on May 25, 1931 in Iantha, MO to parents Glenn and Esther Davis, MO. She departed this life peacefully with family by her side on August 6. 2024 in Springfield, Mo.

She attended grade school in Iantha, MO and graduated from high school in Liberal, MO. She was one of the 2 remaining graduates of the class of 1949.

She was united in marriage to Lloyd D. Wolfe on June 3, 1951 at the Christian Church in Liberal, MO and together they shared 52 years of marriage. She was a home maker and a very talented seamstress and knitter. When her daughters were young she made a lot of their clothes and costumes with meticulous detail. And a lot of newborn babies were the lucky recipient of a pair of her beautifully hand knitted booties. She volunteered many hours as a member of the Auxiliary at the then St John’s Hospital in the mail and flower room delivering cards and flowers to the patients.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lloyd, two son-in-laws James Payne and Delaine Ford, and a great-grandson Gibson Miller. She is survived by her three daughters Julie Ford, Branson, Mo. Karen Wolfe-Miller and husband Jerry Miller, Springfield, Mo. and Janna Ragsdale and husband Bryan, Rogersville, MO, Seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her adopted family Curt and Barbie McLaughlin and children.

Doris had a quick wit and a dry sense of humor. She loved her family dearly and will be greatly missed by them.

The family would like to thank the staff at Creekside Assisted Living for their care and concern and for helping her maintain her independence during her final years.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 13th at Greenlawn North. The visitation will begin at 10 am followed by the service at 11. She will be buried in Greenlawn North beside her husband Lloyd. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Children’s Miracle Network.
