John E. Myers II, age 66, Joplin, passed away at 7:18 a.m. Monday, July 2, 2018 at Barnes Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri, after an illness.
John was born December 28, 1951 in Albuquerque, New Mexico to the late John E. Myers and Doris Faye Young Myers and had lived in Joplin most of his life.
John served as pastor of Joplin Full Gospel Church for over 33 years. He also worked for ABF Freight for many years, retiring that position to devote himself full time to the church. John was active in Full Gospel Churches International; the Jasper County Jail Ministry; homeless ministries; summer youth camps; local pastor's prayer groups and did mission work in Mexico and Africa.
He loved his family. John enjoyed taking his grandchildren hunting and fishing any chance he had. He will be missed by all who knew him.
John married Joyce Shields on December 22, 1971 in Joplin. She survives at the home.
Additional survivors include a son, Jerome Myers and his wife, Mary, Joplin; a daughter, Amy Patrick and her husband, Josh, Joplin; two brothers, Tom Myers and Chris Myers, both of Joplin; and grandchildren, Adrienne, Logan, Clayton and wife, Alaxah, Wyatt and Isla.
Services are planned for Friday at 10:00 a.m. at Joplin Full Gospel Church. Interment will follow at Osborne Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6-8:00 p.m. at Joplin Full Gospel Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mission Department at Joplin Full Gospel Church, in care of Parker Mortuary.
