Bill L Walkenshaw, age 79 passed away at 9:53 am, Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at Freeman West Hospital Joplin, MO following an illness.
Bill was born July 19, 1939 in Galena . His parents were Robert and Ruby (Adams) Walkenshaw. He was a lifetime resident of Galena.
He owned and managed Crown Lanes Bowling Center, Galena, for 36 years. He was also a machinist and had worked at Eagle Picher, Joplin for 20 years.
He was a member of Christ Community United Methodist Church, Joplin. He was a professional bowler and was on the Greater Joplin Bowling Association Hall of Fame. He enjoyed traveling, caring for his dogs, and being with his family.
Bill married Jane Morton on June 4, 1996 in Las Vegas, NV. She survives.
Additional survivors include one son, Steve Walkenshaw (Diane) Carl Junction, MO; 2 daughters, Sheila Walkenshaw (Scott King) Neosho, MO and Kim Selby (Steve) Joplin; 2 step children, Johnny Vickers (Janesse) Baxter Springs and Julie Vickers (Lora Richardson), Pittsburg, KS; 6 grandchildren, Ty (Erin) Walkenshaw, Craig (Erin) Walkenshaw, Brook (Jeremy) McMullen, Ashley Bentley (Cody Mitchell), Dane Bell, and Stevi Selby; 3 step grandchildren, Jennifer Vickers, Jayden Vickers, and Jessica Vickers, and 7 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm, Monday October 8, 2018 at Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, KS. Pastor Bob Dart will officiate.
The family will receive friends following the funeral service until 4:00 pm at the funeral home.
