Ruth Green, loving mother of two sons and two granddaughters passed away Monday October 1, 2018 at the age of 91.
Ruth had been a career employee of The Missouri State Department of Family Service Division in Joplin, Missouri. She retired after many years of service.
She was born February 13, 1927 in Webb City, Missouri to John and Elfie (Curl) Doll, directly across from the West Side Elementary School.
Ruth graduated from the Webb City High School in 1945. While in school she was involved with the Student Council, Girl Reserves, Glee Club and the Drum Corps. After graduation she attended the Joplin Business College. During World War II she worked in the office of the Elder Shirt Manufacturing plant in Webb City, Missouri.
On February 7, 1953 she married Bob Green. They had met three years earlier at the Webb City bus stop while she attended Franklin Business School. Bob was studying at Joplin Junior College. Bob entered military service during the Korean conflict. From this union two sons were born, Roger a National Park Service Ranger, who now resides in Williamsburg, Virginia, and Richard, a retired Storm Water Department graphic technician, of Tulsa, Oklahoma. They were supported as both Eagle Scouts of Webb City Troop 29 and Cadet Officers of the Webb City Reserve Officer Training Corps. During summer vacations they traveled to each corner of the continental United States.
In Bob and Ruth’s senior years they enjoyed Caribbean Cruises, visiting Roger and family when in the port city of New Orleans. They were also members of American Legion Post 322 of Webb City, as well as being involved with several other community groups and organizations.
Ruth will always be remembered for being a lady who had a strong kind heart, interest in cooking, sewing, and most of all a faithful companion with dear love of family.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Webb City Health and Rehabilitation community for the last few years for their wonderful support and care.
Memorial services for Ruth and Bob are tentatively scheduled for 2:00 pm November 15, 2018 at the Hedge-Lewis-Goodwin Funeral Home. Please call for confirmation.
A private family inurnment will be at the Carterville Cemetery.
