Eugene Hoskin

Eugene E. Hoskin, age 83, of Joplin, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and loved ones, on Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at Freeman West in Joplin.

Gene was born December 6, 1935 in Chicago, Illinois, son of the late Lucille Lewen Base and John Base. He grew up in Chicago and worked for 48 years as a District Inspector with Underwriters Laboratories out of Joplin, MO. He and his family were members of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Joplin since 1972. He enjoyed painting ceramics and working both crossword and jigsaw puzzles. Over the past few years he enjoyed spending time with his great-grandchildren.

Gene was preceded in death by both of his parents, his wife of 55 years, Joan M. Hoskin, who passed away on June 9, 2014; and two sisters, Joni Kampfert and Phyllis Willis.








He leaves behind his children; Mike Hoskin and wife Anita of Atlanta, GA, Jim Hoskin and wife Kelli of Dover, NH, and Sandy Tinney and husband Rusty of Joplin; grandchildren Kaitlin Tinney Doll (Cody), Amanda Tinney Lynch (Eric), Shelby Tinney-Edge (Jake), Keegan Tinney (Brittany), Brittany Hoskin (Ryan), Blake Hoskin (Jody), Ian Hoskin, and Lucas Hoskin; great-grandchildren, River Amore Hoskin, Brynnley Grace Lynch, and Zander William Tinney; sisters, Joyce Lyskawa (Stan), and Janice Michaels all of Chicago; several nieces and nephews and a large loving family of in-laws.

The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary this Thursday August 8, 2019 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. A Rosary will be recited by Father Joseph Weidenbenner of St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at Parker Mortuary.

Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church in Burbank, Illinois. His final resting place will be in the mausoleum at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, Justice, Illinois.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Society of St. Vincent de Paul.
