George Thornberry

George W. Thornberry, age 68, Asbury, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at Freeman West Hospital.

George was born September 15, 1950 in Joplin, son of the late John W. Thornberry and Lavon Belle Rolleg Thornberry. He graduated from high school, and began his career in construction. He worked in all facets of construction, and became an independent contractor, working mainly home construction. He loved spending time with family, and was a huge St. Louis Cardinals fan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bob Thornberry.








Survivors include his son, Shawn Foulks and wife Tina of Fort Worth, Texas; siblings, Evelyn Hasenplaugh of Webb City, LaWanda Coppenbarger of Webb City, Gary Thornberry and wife Mary of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Sue Dunn and husband Ronnie of Asbury, Karan Sanders of Asbury, Kevin Thornberry and wife Kim of Baxter Springs, Kansas; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be Friday, August 9, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in Parker Mortuary Chapel with Bill York officiating. Interment will follow in Carl Junction Cemetery with Kelly Olds, Jerry Brisendine, Steve Hasenplaugh, Jay Dunn, Scott Purcell, Chris Nally serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Chuck Lasley and Rodney Brewer.
