Doris May Ledford, age 77 of Carthage, MO, passed away at her daughter’s home in Joplin, MO at 7:07 AM on Sunday, September 22, 2019.
Doris was born in Stowe, VT on April 26, 1942 to the union of Walter Addison Rice and Pearl Mae (Williams) Rice. She had lived in Carthage since 1970, and spent most of her adult life working in the home as a homemaker. Her life was her family. She loved taking care of her kids and grandkids, as well as her bees, her goat, and her dogs.
She was united in marriage with Donald C. Ledford on October 8, 1976 in Carthage, MO. He preceded her in death on February 24, 2015.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Pearl; two brothers, Billy Rice and Paul Rice; one sister, Mary Turner; one son, Terry Prevo; one step-son, David Ledford; and one great grandchild, Khloe Dawn Simpson.
Survivors include two sons, Mike Prevo and Joe Prevo, both of Carthage; two daughters, Sheryl Noe of Joplin, MO, and Sandy Moss of Grove, OK; two step-children, Donald C. Ledford, Jr. and Cheryl Thompson; one sister, Lois Lawson of Neosho, MO; as well as 12 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren; as well as many special cousins, nieces and nephews, and special friends.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at Oak Hill Cemetery of Galena with Rev. Larry Begley of Atoka, OK officiating. Online condolences may be expressed at www.derfeltfuneralhomes.com.
