Windy Cox

Windy G. Cox, age 50, of Carl Junction, MO, passed away on September 11, 2019, in her home, following an illness.

Windy was born on August 4, 1969 in Springfield, IL, the daughter of the late Wilbur Roy and Barbara Ann (Ford) Smith. She married Amiel B. Overman on June 25, 1993 in Eureka Springs, AR. Together they established Service Recycling of Joplin. Following that she was a hotel manager for several area hotels. She was a member of the Seneca Church of Christ, as well as several Midwest camping groups. She loved the beach, the river, gardening and her dogs. She was devoted to her family and her friends.

She married Randal W. Cox on April 21, 2012 and he preceded her in death on December 2, 2017.








She is survived by her stepmother, Mary Smith of Canton, Ks.; two sons, Amiel Ray Overman, Joplin, Jonathan Overman, Joplin; one daughter, Grace Overman, Carl Junction, MO; one stepson, Randall W. Cox, II and wife Kayla, Joplin; two stepdaughters, Jessica Smith and husband Jared, Topeka, KS, and Ashley Cox, Hamilton, NY.; Her extended family, Mary, Fina, Tracy and Cassie; three brothers, Keith Smith, Carl Junction, MO, Jesse Smith, Hays, KS, and Billy Smith, Russell, KS; five grandchildren, Emma, Bellea, Noah, Bentley, and Eliza; and one on the way, Jackson. She took pride in being “Granny”.

A Memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, September 14, 2019 at the Seneca Church of Christ. Jake King, Minister, will officiate.
