Frances Castle

Frances Louise Castle, age 98, of Pierce City, MO died on Monday, September 23, 2019 at Lacoba Homes Inc. in Monett, MO. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo Herman and Mary Teresa (Gripka) Seufert and siblings, Helen (Emmitt) Roetto, Florence (Charles) Grable, and Bernard Seufert. 

She was born in Ritchey, MO on August 5, 1921. She attended school in Wentworth, MO and graduated from Diamond High School. She attended Pittsburg Business College in Pittsburgh, Kansas and worked for Fadler Produce Company of Pittsburg, KS as a bookkeeper for eight years.








In 1946, she married James O. Freeman and resided in Hutchinson, Kansas before moving to the Pulaskifield, MO area and later to Pierce City, MO. Frances was a longtime businesswoman and unit sales leader for Stanley Home Products company and was named its national sales person of the year. She loved to travel and earned many travel experiences through her business. 

Her husband, James, died in 1980 and in 1990 she married Billy E. Castle, who died in 2008. She was a member of St. Peter and Paul’s and St. Mary’s Catholic churches and attended St. Lawrence church. She belonged to Pierce City Council of Catholic Women, Cox Hospital Auxiliary, and delivered Meals on Wheels.

Frances had eight children: Jerry (Dores Jay -Pang) Freeman of Rio Communities, NM; Mary Ann Freeman of Cottage Grove, MN; Jeanette (Skip) Hartzell of Port St. Lucie, FL; Michael (Gretchen) Freeman of McMinnville, OR; Jane (Steve, deceased) of Tulsa, OK; Pat, recently deceased (Lynn) Freeman of Pierce City, MO; and Janice Freeman and Alice Freeman, of Tulsa, OK. Frances had seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and a large extended family in the southwest Missouri area.

The family will receive friends at Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City, MO on September 27, 2019 from 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM. A Prayer Service will follow at 7:00 PM. Funeral Services will be at St. Mary's Catholic Church on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at 10:00 AM with Father Matt Rehrauer officiating. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Lakin Funeral home in Pierce City, MO.
