Evelyn Jean Martin of Miami, OK passed away Monday, September 23, 2019 at her home. She was 83.
Evelyn was born September 6, 1936 in Carthage, MO to Paul and Lola (Potts) Nett. She had lived in Miami, Joplin, MO and Tuscaloosa, AL most of her life. She graduated from Joplin High School Class of 1954. Evelyn was a beautician working at Jeannie’s Beauty Salon and Apparel in Miami and was a member of the First Christian Church in Miami, OK.
Evelyn was preceded in death by 2 sons Joseph Cameron Clark and James Clark and a daughter Debra Jean Clark, her parents and a brother Herbert Nett.
Survivors include her husband Norman Martin of the home, 1 son David Williams and wife Kim of Hartford, MI, 4 daughters Brenda Winton and husband Mike of Afton, OK, Stephanie Fried of Grove, OK, Diana Culver and husband Gary of Afton, OK, Rexanna Douthit and husband James of Miami, OK, 2 brothers Melvin Nett of Derby, KS and Gaylan Nett of Haysville, KS, 12 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 27, 2019 at the First Christian Church in Miami, OK. Pastor Leon Weece, Pastor Brian Brubaker and Pastor Jared Joslin will officiate. Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Afton, OK. Derek Sparks, Dakota Winton, J.W. Stanley, Andrew Douthit, Dallas Winton and Joshua Culver will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday evening at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home Chapel in Miami, OK.
