Shirley Jean Arnett, Joplin, MO entered into rest on September 24, 2019 after a lengthy illness. She was born February 13, 1936 in Arkansas City, KS to Floyd and Eva Christine (Taylor) Thompson.
Shirley was a lifelong resident of the Neosho and Diamond area. She worked in production for Tyson in Neosho for 23 years. Shirley was a member of the Hilldale Baptist Church and loved to cook.
She is survived by her husband, Jay Arnett of the home; six children, Tom Powell and wife, Jan of Joplin, Deborah Davenport and husband, Darold of Granby, Beverly Powell of Joplin, Robert Powell and wife, Nannette of Lee’s Summit, MO, Terry Powell of Carthage, and Larry Powell of Joplin; four step sons, J.R. Arnett and wife, Jennifer of Seneca, Brian Arnett of Neosho, Lewis Arnett and companion, Tamatha of Mt. Vernon, and Thomas Arnett of South Carolina; eighteen grandchildren; thirty five great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and numerous step grand and great grandchildren.
