Mary Campbell

Mary Katheryn Campbell, 99, passed from this life into the arms of her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, September 18, 2019. She was born on March 26, 1920 in Nevada, MO to Albert and Iona Meyers. She was raised and educated in Nevada along with her seven brothers and sisters. She was the last surviving sibling.

Mary was united in marriage to Gordon W. Campbell in 1939, he preceded her in death in 1991. From their union two children were born: Judy Campbell-Glaze born in 1941 who passed in 1990 and William “Bill” Campbell born in 1945.

They moved from Kansas to Carthage in 1947 and remained a lifetime residents of Carthage. Mary is survived by one son, William “Bill” Campbell and wife Jody, numerous nieces and nephews and eight grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Mary loved nature, spending many hours outdoors in her flower and vegetable gardens. She found great peace watching birds and our maple trees turn colors. She was especially fond of her many colored Christmas cactus’ and giving them away for others to enjoy. Mary could stick her thumb in dirt and some beautiful flower grew; she just had a knack for growing flowers. Mary loved to bowl and was very active in the bowling leagues in Carthage, even coaching the Junior Bowling League.
