Gina DeBellis

(From Parker Mortuary)

Gina Lynn DeBellis departed this life on Saturday, September 14, 2019 after a decline in health with heart related issues.

Gina was born on April 25, 1957 in South Bend Indiana. She was the first child of Diane and Roy DeBellis. Gina soon moved to California with her father being stationed at Castle Air Force Base in northern California. She moved south to Malibu when her father got out of the Air Force around 1960 and enjoyed life as a youngster near the Pacific Ocean. Her brother Doug was born in 1961 and she was always looking after him. They had a wonderful time together, going to the beach, running around the neighborhood where everyone was like family…Gina had great formative years there in California. One of her favorite things was having a horse and riding her horse Cloudy in the then rural environment in Malibu.

Gina moved to the Midwest with her family in the late 60’s. She went to John F Kennedy High School where she graduated.

Throughout Gina’s life one thing that never changed was that she always had a smile for everyone. She never met a stranger. She would always find the best in people …even when that was difficult to do. Her sense of humor was wonderful…she found humor in a lot of what life brings. She could find happiness in the simplest of things…. that most people would simply overlook. She loved her family gatherings and shared many jokes and would laugh at jokes and stories told (especially by her father).

Her smile will forever be in the minds and hearts of all those that loved her.

Gina is survived by her mother Diane DeBellis; brother, Doug DeBellis and wife, Susan; son, Hunter DeBellis; nieces, Cara DeBellis and Maria DeBellis; nephew, Anthony DeBellis and extended family in California.

Gina is survived by Jim Simpson, who had a special bond with Gina and loved Gina with all his heart, as well as Jim’s family, their friends, and last (and probably least!) “Tiny” Gina’s cheerful little dog.

The family is having private service at Parker Mortuary on Saturday, September 21, 2019.
