Mary Frances Graves Giett Irick, age 96, Joplin, died September 24, 2019 after a sudden illness.
She was born February 7, 1923 to the late Fred and Bertie McCullough Graves. She was one of twelve children.
She attended Stapleton Elementary, South Junior High and Joplin High School, graduating in 1941.
She married Jesse Giett in Joplin on October 14, 1941. They had three children, Cheryl Henning (Gerald) of Joplin, Steve Giett of Joplin, and Scott Giett (Teresa) of Carthage. Jesse died in November of 1975.
She married Leo B. Irick in February of 1976. He died October 7, 2000.
She worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company as a switchboard operator before choosing to be an at-home mother and housewife.
She was a lifelong member of the Joplin Community of Christ congregation.
She was preceded in death by both husbands; five brothers; three sisters and a grandson.
She is survived by her three children; two sisters, Margia Kelley, Joplin, Margaret Wilson, Georgia; one brother, Galen Graves, Kansas City; seven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and several step grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Services are planned for Sunday at 1:00 p.m. at the Joplin Congregation of the Community of Christ, 1212 Goetz Blvd. The family will receive friends from Noon until service time at the church. Private graveside services will be held on Monday at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Gerald Henning, Keith Henning, Layne Henning, Robert Henderson and Phil Afchari. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Smith and Jayde Patrick. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
