Joyce Marlene Sanford, age 75, Joplin, passed away at 10:18 p.m. Saturday, September 14, 2019 at her residence.
Joyce was born February 9, 1944 in Rochelle, Illinois to the late Pete Paul and Johannah Mairath Paul and had lived in the Joplin area for several years, moving from Colorado.
Joyce had a love for people. She had worked in the transportation industry for most of her adult working life, managing the Fina Truck Stop in Longmont, Colorado and then as a truck driver for several companies.
But her passion was for music. Joyce played the bass guitar for over 47 years, most recently with her band, 'Kountry Kustoms'. It was her love of music that enabled her to meet thousands of people over the decades. She loved her family with all of her heart and will be missed by all who loved her.
Joyce is preceded in death by her husband, Theodore 'Ted' Sanford; and Gerald and Louise Paul.
Survivors include her daughter, Toni Paul, Joplin; two sons, Earl Paul and wife, Judy Harrison, Jay, Oklahoma, Ted Sanford, Jr. and wife, Jolynn, Seneca; and grandchildren, Nicole Slaughter and husband, Zach, Jordyn Sanford, Ted 'Bear' Sanford, Johanna Paul, Tiffany Paul, Earl Paul, Jr., Curtis Paul, Elijah Paul, Auni Jackson and husband, Robert, Jerrod Teehee; and thirteen great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Friday from 3-6:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
