Norma Johns

Norma Agnes (Markham) Johns, 91, formerly of Bronaugh, MO passed away on Sunday, September 15, 2019 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, MO. Norma was born July 25, 1928 in Dimmitt, TX to Finis E. and Myrtle Faye (Norman) Hunter.

 In 1977 she was united in marriage to Frank B. Markham in Dimmitt, TX and he preceded her in death on October 9, 1980. She later married Doyle Johns on May 9, 1996 and he also preceded her in death on April 30, 2011.

Norma was raised in Texas and graduated from Dimmitt High School in 1946. She and her husband Frank came to Vernon County in 1963 and settled in Bronaugh. Norma was very active on the farm, driving tractors, and grain trucks. In addition to helping on the farm she also worked for Roosevelt Savings and Loan for a number of years. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Nevada. 

For the past five years she has resided in Seneca and attended the First Baptist Church in Neosho. Norma loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, attending all of their school activities throughout the years. She enjoyed traveling to Branson with her daughter Marsha. “Norma also looked forward to her monthly dinner at Chicken Mary’s with Marsha, Kent, and Rob. Her family has been going to Chicken Mary’s for over 50 years.”








Survivors include one daughter, Marsha Markham, Seneca, MO; five grandchildren, Robert Wright, Seneca, Whitney Roark and her husband Rome, Seneca, Tennille Lundien and her husband Chance, Miami, OK, Tyson Markham and his wife Jennifer, Harrisonville, Logan Markham, Harrisonville; eight great-grandchildren, Will, Max, Brady, Jennelle, Taylor, Lizzy, Jackson, Bennett; one sister, Jimmie Rice, Nevada; numerous, nieces and nephews. 

 In addition to Frank Markham and Doyle Johns, she was preceded in death by one son, Butch Markham; and one brother Orville Pierce.

A Memorial Service will he held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 19, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with Pastor Todd Decker officiating. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home.
