Melvin E. Monroe, 88, who died March 14, 2017 after fighting a long battle with liver cancer, among other things.
Survivors include two daughters, Coleen Kelley, Tallassee, Ala. and Janet Searles, Iantha; four nieces and nephews, Janet Marley, Mark Monroe, Tim FitzGerald and Jeanne Piercy, 10 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Melvin L. Monroe.
Mr. Monroe was in the United States Army and served as an infantry soldier who fought in the Korean War. He was also a dedicated and loving father.
