(From Daniel Funeral Home)
Noah Martin Hobbs, age 80, of Sheldon, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, June 7, 2017, at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin.
Noah was born November 21, 1936, in Bartonville, Illinois, to Harley and Vivian (Wilkinson) Hobbs. After serving in the U.S. Navy, he began a career as a High Voltage Electrician. He completed many projects, living in many places before his last assignment at China Lake Naval Weapons Base in Ridgecrest, California. After retiring in 1997, Noah settled in Missouri where he had more time to spend with his family. Playing pool, fishing with his nephews, reading William Johnstone novels, watching western movies, and outings with his sister filled his time. Winning a national billiards trophy was a highlight for him, but his best memories were made with his grandkids, and he cherished any activity that could be shared (along with his favorite M & Ms and Pay Days) with them.
On October 4, 1973, at Oberlin, Kansas, Noah married Barbara Skiles, and she preceded him in death April 26, 1987. He was also preceded by his parents and a brother, Jack Hobbs.
Survivors include two daughters, Stephanie (Danny) Woodside, Milford, Nebraska and Andrea Hobbs, Carthage, Missouri; two brothers, James Hobbs, Cambridge, Nebraska and Timothy Gammel, Mechanicsville, Virginia; a sister, June Hill, Lamar, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Elizabeth Woodside, Nykole Woodside, Kourtney Woodside, Victoria David, Skylar and Allysyn Hobbs, and Tyler McClure; a great granddaughter, Anastasia David; and a large extended family.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 10th, at Daniel Funeral Home. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Hobbs family, in care of the funeral home.
