Brenda Mishmash

Brenda Carol (Blancett) Mishmash, 70, passed away on May 12, 2021 at home surrounded by family. She was born February 9, 1951 in Pittsburg, Kansas to Juanita (Shields) and Jesse Blancett. 

She attended Westside Elementary, Lakeside Junior High School and Pittsburg High School. She was editor of the school yearbook and newspaper in high school. 

She worked at McNally’s, the Census Bureau, Social Security Administration (she retired from there after 30 years of service), Pittsburg State University Music Department and Financial Aid Department. She also wrote a column called “Do you recall?” in the Morning Sun that she was extremely proud of. 








She was a talented writer and wonderful wife and mother. She also enjoyed doing genealogy. She loved animals and had many beloved pets in her life. She was a people person and very friendly to everyone. She was proud of nominating her friend, Don Gutteridge, to be inducted into the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame in 2007. 

Another beloved memory of hers was her first date with her future husband, Robert, they were accompanied by their friends, Mark Postai and Melanie Matthews-Bowman, they saw “The Happiest Millionaire” at the Fox Theater in Joplin, MO.

She married Robert Mishmash on November 30, 1973 in Pittsburg, KS, he survives of the home.

She was preceded in death by her parents Jesse and Juanita Blancett, her brothers Marvin, Glen, Bill and Paul Blancett.

Additional survivors include one son: Marc Mishmash of Pittsburg, KS, and one daughter, Kate (Jason) Griffin of Joplin, MO. Two granddaughters: Willa and Reese Griffin of Joplin, MO. Sisters in law, Jodi Blancett of Lee’s Summit, MO and Nancy Blancett of Weir, KS. Multiple nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
