(From Lakin Funeral Home)Gerald Michael Gasser was born in Monett Missouri on June 19, 1961. He graduated from Pierce City High School in 1980.
He then attended Missouri Southern State University (MSSU) in Joplin Missouri and graduated from Nursing school. He worked in critical care units and the Emergency Room at Freeman Hospital, Joplin. He attended graduate school at St. John’s School of Nursing and received his advanced practice registered nurse degree in Anesthesia (CRNA).
Jerry worked at University of Texas Medical Branch, (UTMB, Galveston Texas), for 23 years in his CRNA role. He loved to cook and hunt. His hunting trips included South Africa and Canada.
He met the love of his life, Juvy Culanculan, from Sindangan, Philippines, in 2008, and they married in 2010, in Galveston Texas. Together, they had a great life, traveled together to many places, including the Philippines to visit family, and vacationed in many states in the US. Jerry treasured his life, family, and his pet dog Bantay. He was a help to all, and family oriented. He loved offering educational assistance to his nieces in the Philippines.
In 2015, he learned he had leukemia, and took all measures to combat, with the support of family and friends. The battle ended on May 21, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents Gene (2016) and Rose Marie (2002), and his sister Jeannie McInnis (1992).
He is survived by his wife, Juvy; 2 sisters, Pat Mitchell (Danny), Fairview Mo; Carolyn Gasser, Mission KS; 3 brothers, Randall (Kerri), Grain Valley MO, David (Lora), Oak Grove MO; and Gary (Susie) Pierce City MO; his sisters-in-law, Jaegrace (Colin) Taylor, Ark City KS and Jean (Phillip); brothers-in-law, Jobert & Jerix (Ailyn) CulanCulan; his mother-in-law, Soledad Culanculan, Philippines; many nieces and nephews all dear to this heart, especially his newest niece, Jannine Taylor.
The family will receive friends on Friday, May 28, 2021 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM with prayer service at 7:00 PM at St Mary’s Catholic Church, 200 Front Street, Pierce City MO. 65723. Funeral Mass will be Saturday, May 29, 2021 at 10:00 AM at St Mary's. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
