(From Paul Thomas Funeral Home)Gwendolyn “Gwen” Faye Cornwell of Miami, OK passed from this life Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at her home. She was 79.
Gwen was born February 15, 1942 in Miami, OK to Gilbert and Argie (Rozell) Green. She had lived most of her life in Miami.
She graduated from Miami High School class of 1960 and graduated from N.E.O. A&M College in Miami, OK.
Gwen was a secretary for Nichols Elementary School in Miami for 29 years, owned and operated Cornwell Poultry Farm for 20 years and had worked for the City of Quapaw for the past 3 years. She was a member of the Wyandotte Lioness Club and Miami Church of Christ.
Gwen married Morris Cornwell August 17, 1963 and he preceded her in death April 21, 1995. She was also preceded in death by her parents and 1 brother Wayne Green.
Survivors include 1 son, Kyle Cornwell and wife Carrie of Carthage, Mo, 1 daughter, Shelly Bryant of Miami, OK, special extra daughter Amy Goins of Winter Haven, FL, 6 grandchildren Justin Bryant and wife Jenny, Anthony Bryan and Charlee Hibbard, Megan Bond and husband Jay, Caitlyn Riley and husband Dakota, Colton Bryant and wife Emily and Madison Cornwell and 5 great grandchildren Candice Bryant, Landon Bryant, Eli Bryant, Malachi Cornwell and M’Lynn Riley.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at Miami Church of Christ. David Davis, Harley Turner, Arthur Anderson and John Rozell will officiate. Interment will be at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at Oaklawn Cemetery in Richland, MO. Justin Bryant, Anthony Bryant, Colton Bryant, Jay Bond, Dakota Riley, Caleb Green, Joshua Green and Chance Keim will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home Chapel in Miami, OK.
