Gordon W. Sechrist, age 94, passed away on Monday May 24, 2021 at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin.
Gordon was known to always be on the go and was an avid fan of art; his favorite hobbies were scratch art and oil paintings. Gordon could often be found knitting hats for his loved ones along with the cancer patients and newborn babies at Freeman Hospital, where he volunteered a lot of his time. He also volunteered with Meals on Wheels. Along with donating his time, Gordon loved to read and play pool at the Senior Center.
Survivors include his, wife, Mary Lou and sister, Patty McKay.
Gordon was preceded in death by his father, Gerald, mother, Grace, and sister, Geraldine Mitchell.
A memorial Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at 2:00pm with Fr. Joe Weidenbenner officiating.
The family would like to thank the CVICU staff at Freeman Hospital for their care and support. Memorial contributions can be made in his memory to the charity of your choice.
