Harry Podszus

Harry Martin Podszus, age 94, of Joplin, passed away on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at National Health Care in Joplin.

Harry, son of the late Franz and Helena (Albright) Podszus, was born on March 20, 1927 in Russell, KS. 

 He served his country honorably as a Corporal in World War II as a medic for the United States Army Air Force. 








 After returning from the war, he married Josie Nelson in Joplin in 1966. She preceded him in death on October 20, 2009.

Harry worked various jobs in and around Joplin until his employment with Eagle Picher where he retired after 30 years of service. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Joplin.

Survivors include his daughters, Karen Hull, Shreveport, LA, and Sandra Cohagan, of Springfield; eight grandchildren; and numerous great and great-great grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, Harry was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 21, 2021 at 1:00 pm at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Joplin with Reverend Gregory Mech officiating. Burial will follow at Osborne Cemetery in Joplin with full military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to Martin Luther School and may be entrusted to the mortuary.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin.
