(From Parker Mortuary)Johnny William Green, 86, of Neosho, Mo., passed away on May 25, 2021.
Johnny was born in Joplin, Mo., on June 25, 1934 to John Wesley and Peaches Hula (Qualls) Green. He graduated from Joplin High School and continued on to Joplin Junior College.
Johnny was married to Lillian (Sperry) Green on December 9, 1953. They were married 36 years until she passed away in 1990.
In his younger years Johnny managed a QuikTrip Store in Joplin, Mo., he worked at Modine Manufacturing, and worked as a custodian for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Johnny is preceded in death by his wife, Lillian, and daughter, Barbara Shurtleff (Kevin). He is also preceded in death by two siblings, Duane Green (Wawena) and Joan Green.
Johnny is survived by seven children, Steve Green, Ginger Himmelsbach, David Green (Venna), Debbie Gamble (Gary), Judy Gurley (Michael), Tom Green (Leslie) and Diana Brockman (Kendall). He is also survived by 42 grandchildren and many great and great-great grandchildren. Other survivors include his brother, Ralph Green (Helen) and sister, Marilyn Gordon (Richard), and many nieces and nephews he loved dearly.
Johnny was a very kind and generous man, always willing to give and serve others. He encouraged everyone he could with a kind note or word. He always thought highly of others, treating all fairly without regard to race or status. He enjoyed being the funny guy, quick with a joke, riddle or even stand-up comedy. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and later attended Fellowship Baptist Church of Neosho, Mo.
A graveside service will be held at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery on Friday, May 28th, at 10:00 a.m. Viewing will be permitted Thursday, May 27th at Parker Mortuary.
The family would like to thank all involved in his care, the staff at Parker Mortuary and the kindness of Fellowship Baptist Church, Neosho.
