Carol Joan Merrill, 73, passed away Monday, May 17, 2021 at her home in Carthage, Missouri. Carol was born January 2, 1948 in Fort Knox, Kentucky to Arthur and Mary Rose Hancock.
Carol enjoyed spending time at their lake home, working in her rock garden, planting flowers, and crocheting. She loved spending time with her husband, telling stories, listening to music, and “totty time.” She loved laughing with her daughters and grandchildren.
At the age of 13 Carol met Fred Merrill at a church hayride and they have been together since. They have been married for 55 years; he survives.
Carol is preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband, Fred Merrill; two daughters Teresa Jirik of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Susan Richmond (Darrell) of Carthage, Missouri; seven grandchildren Taylor Santoro (Dave) of Virginia, Addison Jirik (Eric) of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Scotty Jirik of Chicago, Illinois, Bailey, Elizabeth, Olivia, and Mary Grace Richmond of Carthage, Missouri.
A Rosary will held at St. Ann’s Catholic Church on Friday, May 21, 2021 at 1:00 PM. Following will be a Graveside memorial service at 2:00 PM at Park Cemetery in Carthage, Missouri.
