George Baker

George W Baker, age 80, of Lamar, Missouri passed away May 13, 2021, at Cox South Hospital in Springfield, Missouri.

George was born April 9,1941 in Lamar, MO to Gail L. Baker and Mary Vernette (Travis) Baker. George was raised and attended grade school in Kenoma and graduated from Golden City High School in 1959. On March 10, 1963, George married Anne "Elaine" Fanning in Golden City, MO, and to this union two sons were born, David and Bradley.








George was self-employed with over twenty-five years of diverse and progressive experience in systems design, analysis and programming with fifteen years of independent consulting / contracting with five major corporations including R.J. Reynolds, Western Electric, AT&T, Wachovia Bank, Forsyth Memorial Hospital and DST Systems prior to his retirement and will be forever remembered for his love of family and country. George enjoyed attending family reunions, was an educated advocate of the US Constitution, and a loyal fan of the KC Royals and KC Chiefs.

George is survived by two sons; Dave (Kristi) Baker, Winner, SD and Brad (Cris) Baker, Mocksville, NC , four grandchildren; Bailey Baker and Dalton Baker both from Winner, SD and Christopher "Bubba" Shaw and Sara Woolsey both of Mocksville, NC, six great-grandchildren; Caleigh, Leyna, Caleb, Nalea, Alivia and Inara, three brothers; Daniel (Deb) Baker of Rapid City, SD and Mike Baker, Midwest City, OK, and Foster Baker of Iowa, one sister, Carol Medlin, Lamar, MO, sister-in-law Shirley Baker of Kansas City, MO; Sister-in-law, Linda (Gary) Gillen of Golden City, MO, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, a large extended family and a multitude of friends at the Lamar Elks Lodge and communities of Lamar and Golden City.

Preceding George in death are his wife Elaine in 2003, sister Maxine Schell and brother-in-law Roger Schell, brother Stan Baker, sister-in-law Connie Baker and his parents.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
